Peanut App is set to change the way mums communicate. Let’s face it, Once you become a mom you add a whole new language to your repertoire. Moms speak a language of their own, and only moms will understand what I just said. They may even laugh because it’s true! Unfortunately, this new language is often not understood by those who are not experiencing or have not experienced motherhood. So, former Ceo and creator of the popular dating app Badoo as well as notable contributor of the dating app Bumble, Michelle Kennedy, has partnered with former cofounder, Greg Orlowski, of Deliveroo to create Peanut. An app giving new moms exactly what they need, Connection! Not just any connection, but connection with other like minded mommies in their community.
New Mom, Who’s this?!
The app is designed much like the popular dating apps Tinder and Bumble with its easy to use functionalities. You begin by logging in using your Facebook account. You are then prompted for more details about yourself and the little one. This is establishing your Peanut profile. Inquiries include questions such as your age, child’s age/ when you are expecting, location, the baby’s sex, and more. Once completed, You have entire access to other local moms. If both of you swipe right on each others profile, it’s a mommy’s date and potentially the start of a new friendship for two.
There’s not much word from the creators besides the, “We’re coming Tweet,” shared back in January of this year about Peanut. However, we can expect a positive turn around from these guys as they have a history of tech success. According to Steve O’hear, contributing writing at Tech Crunch, Peanut has already established major financial backing, “They include VCs NEA, Felix Capital, and Partech, and a number of angel investors.” So far the Peanut App is to be launched in New York and the U.K. We’re not sure why specifically these two locations to start. Though, we have no doubt the peanut vibes will quickly emerge to larger cities, and suburban neighborhoods across the states.
However, it is notable to know, Peanut is not the first app of its kind. Similar apps include Momzie, which is only available in the U.K and Mush. The differences are minor between the three. So, peanut is no spring chicken. It is simply the first to deliver this solution with it’s edge and fresh air. The Peanut App is likely reach younger millennials, stay at home moms, and entrepreneurs.
We can’t wait to see the brand’s success as we have watched many friendship slowly fall apart because of the lack of like minded priorities once the baby is born. Of course, no one wants to admit it, but it is true. New moms often feel isolated and/or misunderstood as they embark upon the journey of motherhood. New moms needs new friends who can amplify their mommy experiences. We think Peanut may be exactly what the momsphere needs!
