Thinking about a new foundation for the months ahead? If you’re like me, there are a series of test this new product must pass. So, what about the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation formula makes it so worthy of it’s going price of 64.00 dollars? For starters the presentation is beautiful, clean, and simple. Offering about 30mL of silk per glass bottle. Topped with a black gloss lid, held tightly together with a Giorgio Armani emblem clasp. Perhaps, The title isn’t half bad either, “Luminous Silk Foundation.” With a name like that, you’re bound to have women swooning from all directions. However, the question is does the actual quality of the product compare or exceeds its luxurious branding?
Well, according to Sephora, The award winning luminous silk foundation is formulated with microfil technology. This produces a low-density product that pairs high-impact pigments with weightless texture. So basically, Armani is promising the glow and coverage without the cake effect. Giorgio Armani says, ” The products are directly inspired by the way he chooses fabrics for his collections. They are designed to allow the natural glow of the skin to come through no matter how many layers you apply.”
After seeing trusted makeup guru’s of the celebrity world and admired make up artist of Instagram casually flash the little bottle in their feed, I thought I’d give it a try. It was the week before Christmas that I found myself stumbling into Bloomindale’s to finally experience Giorgio Armani’s beauty for myself. Kristine Lisman, a Beauty Advisor of Dior sought to make my experience pleasurable. When you are women of color first, Then second having complex undertones you need all the help you can get. Kristine and I contemplated between tones 7 and 9, it seems like a big jump. But, You just have to remember those complex undertones of yellow and red for an African American woman. It usually comes down to preference and this time was no different. We chose number 9- tan to deep with neutral undertones. It just looked more flattering.
Then something unexpected happened. We begin to notice that after the application set for awhile it begin to oxidate. This caused the foundation to change color. This meant the number 9 suddenly begin to look like a number 7. What a disappointment, I mean it had passed my expectations list and everything; Smooth coverage, light, vibrant, and natural! What more could a girl want. Then suddenly Kristine, who was just as stunned, if not more than I was, came up with a witty idea. Add warmth! She begin to lightly contour my face, adding depth and balance. By the end all was well again, I was once again in love with the coveted luminous silk Giorgio Amani foundation.
So what did this mean? This meant that now, there was no way this foundation could be my everyday wear. I mean, who has time to contour everyday, not me? So by default, It was now limited to special occasions only. Which, when you think about a beauty product upward fifty dollars the idea actually makes sense. Don’t wear out your good stuff right? Not only that, but the foundation looked better in special occasion lightening anyways. As Kristine, was so kindly to demonstrate and allow me to see at the Dior’s vanity table, which was host to about 6-8 different lightening effects.
So what do I give the popular foundation making rounds in the social sphere? 4.5/5
